Day Tripping: Camden, ME

Sometimes the Colby bubble can get a little suffocating, so sometimes you have to find your own adventures. One of my favorite Colby escapes is Camden, ME. Camden is about an hour and twenty minutes away from campus towards the coast.

One of the things I love about Camden is the drive. It's mainly on back roads, so part of the adventure is always in the journey.

Camden is a small coastal town with a couple of shops and restaurants clumped right on the harbor. The perfect size for a casual stroll in the afternoon.

The water is frigid no matter what time of year, but there are some great small beaches speckled around the area.

There is always something to find

And, if you want to stop for something to eat on the way home, I suggest checking out Farmer's Fare, a local grocery store/ lunch stop right outside of Camden. Farmer's Fare carries only local ingredients and products including my favorite: Frozen Joy. Frozen Joy is Farmer's Fare's own pay-as-you-want ice cream. The profits from the ice cream go towards feeding the cows that make it. The flavors are always changing, but my favorite is Bees & Bean's (honey and vanilla).
