Looking for something different to do on friday afternoons? Check out First Fridays with the art department and the Student Art Committee!

I asked Kat Gagnon '12, the student coordinator what First Fridays were all about and this is what she had to say:

Hey Michael,

On the first Friday of every month Student Art Committee gathers and makes the trek to Portland for the First Friday Portland art walk. All are welcome to join! Our motley crew carpools and we are joined by our brilliant faculty advisers Garry Mitchell and Véronique Plesch.

Galleries stay open until 8 pm and the Portland Museum of Art is free to the public on these occasions. Our group grabs dinner together, usually ending up in an Old Port restaurant. We return to campus between 9 pm and 11pm. First Friday is a great opportunity to experience the Portland art scene, see something different, meet new people, and a wonderful excuse to get off campus for an afternoon.
