A Big Day for Colby Sports
Alright everyone, put aside your books for the afternoon. We have some serious cheering to do. It's an important afternoon for Colby sports teams.
At noon the baseball team will finish their game against Tufts that began yesterday. The boys played for 3 hours and 30 minutes to a tie score of 9-9 yesterday evening, but then the umpire had to call the game because it was getting too dark. Today the boys will pick up the game at the top of the 10th inning. Afterwards they will play the originally scheduled double header. It's a big day of baseball. Pack a grab and go lunch at Dana (They hide the grab and go food in the room to the side of Dana after 11; ask Pam nicely and she'll let you in.), and head over to the field to cheer for our boys.
And then, beginning at 1pm, the Colby Lacrosse boys will take on Amherst. This is an especially important game for the team as Amherst's head coach, Jon Thompson, spent the previous two seasons coaching at Colby, leading them to two of their most successful seasons in the past 8 years. Today Thompson's old team and his new team will battle it out on the turf.
Other teams playing at Colby today include Women's Tennis at 10, Track & Field (Women begin at 11; men begin at 1130), and Softball v. Trinity at noon. It may be a little chilly today, but that sun is still shining. So throw on your Colby sweatshirt and get out to support your friends on the field.
