If you're a first-year, welcome to Colby, we're the Colby Echo, your student-run newspaper. If you're returning to Colby, welcome back, we're excited to have another great year with you. Hope all your summers were fantastic. That's me on Meigs field, Chicago, this summer on my road trip from California to Maine.

This is The Bubble, the Echo's new blog. Before I go further, let's get some business out of the way:

• Our first print issue comes out Wednesday, September 14. Look for it in our boxes around campus.
