Played: Thanksgiving Break
Here are some of the tracks I've been listening to over the past few weeks. There isn't exactly a theme to these tracks, but I hope you enjoy them anyway.
Track 1. Has-Lo: Reincarnate
This is the intro track from Philadelphia based Has-Lo's upcoming album, Conversation B, which is his second album release this year. This rapper/producer has been compared to notable accomplished producers including the Rza and J Dilla. I'm looking forward to giving this new album a full listen and checking out some of his older tracks as well.
Track 2. Young Empires: Enter Through The Sun
This is the newest single from the Toronto based trio Young Empires. Their sound is reminiscent of Cut Copy, one of my favorite bands, which is why this song stuck out to me. It features energetic hooks and catchy beats that make it hard not to dance along.
Track 3. Wizdom: That's Nice ft. Sol, Luck-One, and Grynch
This is the newest single from Seattle based rapper, Wizdom's December release "Unearthed". This song features an interesting beat consisting of a Latin-brass section. Seattle has been consistently producing new talent such as The Blue Scholars and Macklemore and it won't be long before one of these artists hits it big in the mainstream.
Track 4. Red Kites: Montreal
This track is a part of a free digital download from the UK based band, Red Kites. I haven't been listening to much music like this recently but the straightforward approach, crisp vocals, and guitar have me looking forward to much more from this band in the future. Download them here.
