It could be called rivalry week for the men of Colby’s ice hockey team. This Friday and Saturday, they are set to face off against the white and black of Bowdoin College.
Colby's final two contests of the season were on the road against Connecticut College on Friday, Feb. 17 and Tufts University on Saturday, Feb. 18.
The Colby men’s hockey team has not had the most successful season this year, but the Mules’ recent play is helping to build confidence for next year, as the Mules nearly swept their homestand this past weekend.
The Colby College men’s hockey team has suffered through a roller coaster season as the team has struggled to notch “W’s” in the left column.
The Mules’ season ended this past Saturday as they fell to the rival Polar Bears of Bowdoin College 3-1 in a hard-fought New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) semifinal game.
The Colby men's hockey team scored a huge upset over Middlebury in the NESCAC quarterfinals, defeating the powerhourse Panthers 2-1.
The weekend started well for the Mules with a tight 1-0 decision over New England College (NEC) and finished on an even stronger note as Colby notched a 5-2 win over Saint Anselm College.
The Colby men’s ice hockey team finished up conference play this weekend with a home stand against Wesleyan University and Trinity College. The Mules split the two games, defeating Wesleyan on Friday night before falling to Trinity on Saturday.
In spite of the cooling Maine temperatures, the men's hockey team is off to a hot start to its 2009-2010 season. After dropping two close games to Babson and UMass-Boston to begin the season, the team has reeled off four straight wins as it approaches this Friday's New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) opener at home against Bowdoin.
Although the Mules did not get the results they were looking for on Friday and Saturday, they remain in a favorable position, as this weekend they aim to lock up their spot in the New England Small College Athletic Conference Tournament.
